The Barometer Survey Is Back: What Do Decision-Makers Really Need from Energy Modelling?

How has the energy modelling landscape shifted in 2026?

The Annual Energy Modelling & Policy Insights Barometer is back, and your voice matters.

Developed in partnership with Dr. David Foord at the University of New Brunswick, this year’s survey is tracking how climate policy priorities and data needs are evolving across Canada. Whether you’re a policymaker, utility professional, NGO, Indigenous partner, or someone who uses model results to make decisions, we want to hear from you. The survey takes about 15 minutes and is available in English or French. Just use the dropdown menu at the top right to select your preferred language.

Why participate? Your insights will be published as a public snapshot for Canada’s energy community and will directly shape EMH’s future initiatives, helping ensure that modelling tools, events, and outreach are more accessible, actionable, and aligned with what stakeholders need.

Access the survey here. The deadline to respond is May 8, 2026.  As a thank you, participants can enter a draw to win one of three complimentary 2-day passes to the 2026 EMH Annual Forum (or a voucher of equivalent value for travel/accommodation). We encourage you to share it widely within your networks — the more voices included, the more useful the findings for everyone.
