Mark your calendars: EMH Annual Forum’s 5th anniversary

It’s that time of year again. The Annual Forum is back.

The 5th edition of the EMH Annual Forum will happen December 16-17, 2026, at Carleton University in Ottawa.

This milestone edition comes at a critical moment, as Canada faces energy and infrastructure decisions of unprecedented scale. This year’s theme, “Where Models Meet Reality” captures a core tension: models can tell us what’s optimal, but that can look very different from what gets built. Interties have looked cost-effective for years without breaking ground. Electrification pathways that work on paper run into financing, labour, and supply chain limits on the ground.

This Forum is built around that tension and brings modellers and researchers together with the policymakers, regulators, and industry leaders who live with these challenges day to day, checking the analysis against what’s actually deliverable so everyone leaves with grounded insights for the decisions ahead.

Save the date: Registration, hotel info, the full agenda, and attendance details will follow soon. For now, simply block off the dates on your calendar.

Interested in participating as a panelist or poster presenter? Apply here by August 21. We’d love to hear from panelists across a range of backgrounds, including energy modelling, policy, research, industry, and practical application. Many session descriptions focus on modelling, but every panel is built to bring different perspectives into conversation. Contributors who work on these questions from any angle are welcome and needed.
