Open-source energy modelling has entered regulatory and system planning processes across a growing number of jurisdictions. The OPENMOD community — one of the most active practitioner networks in energy planning — brings together researchers, system operators, regulators, and developers who collaborate openly on models, data, and methods.
This May, EMH, GERAD and Open Energy Transition are co-hosting OPENMOD Workshop Canada 2026 in Montreal. The event builds on the OPENMOD Meets USA 2023 event at Stanford and will focus on open modelling as a standard for energy planning.
Event details:
- When: May 14-15, 2026
- Where: HEC Montréal (Montréal, QC) / Online (lightning talks streamed live)
- Cost: Free
Note that in-person participation in Montreal is encouraged for technical exchange.
